About Spencer's Safe & Lock
Spencer’s Safe & Lock, serving the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan
area, is a professional organization of highly qualified locksmith professionals
offering a wide range of commercial and residential locksmith services,
including sales, consulting, installation, and maintenance of locks, keys,
safes, panic and security hardware and other related products.

Al Spencer began his apprenticeship as a journeyman locksmith in 1972 earning
$1.85 per hour long before the term “lock technician” became the re-engineered
title in the profession. Within a year he became a store manager for a local
safe and lock company until in 1976 he decided to launch his own business from
the basement of his father’s house. With a van and a bag of tools Spencer’s Safe
& Lock was off and running duplicating keys, installing deadbolts, Medeco Locks,
automotive services, panic devices and safe opening and repairs providing many of the same products and services he offers today to
the residential and commercial market in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area.
In 1978, Al opened his first storefront in Herndon, Virginia and expanded his
services beyond Northern Virginia to Maryland and Washington, D.C. adding
commercial exit devices, lever sets, alarm locks, door bars, and safes as well
as residential dead bolts, knob locks, door viewers, keyless entry pads, and
personal safes to his growing list of products and services.
As a premier supplier of safe & lock products and services Spencer’s Safe & Lock
has been in business for over 30 years and with the addition of Al’s son Neal to
the team of technicians, will likely continue for another 30 more.
